Beauty Obsessed: Lakur, Non-toxic Nail Polish

Beauty Obsessed: Lakur, Non-toxic Nail Polish
Posted on

⁣How bout this pretty Valentines inspired mani?!⁣

I tried out a new brand of non-toxic polish and this one is worth a share! Meet lakur by Londontown. It’s 9-free, vegan and cruelty free!🙌🏻⁣

I don’t talk about the ugly side of beauty enough but as someone who dealt with infertility after years of absorbing toxic salon chemicals working in salons, I know I need to. Especially when there are so many incredible non-toxic options out there!⁣

Lakur has a huge selection and also offers gel polish for a more professional application.  You can head here to check out all the fun pigments!  For this mani I used Weekend Cheers, Best of British and Guilty Pleasure.

The toxic trio found in most nail polishes used to be passed off as NBD but I say reconsider. Here’s why.👇⁣
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
Formaldehyde is a known human carcinogen and can cause cancer of the blood, throat and nose. Not so pretty.⁣
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
Toluene is added to create a smooth application but exposure to it can cause decreased brain functionality, neurological damage and respiratory problems. It’s also been recognized by California as harmful to fetal development. Non-toxic brands perform just as good without this ingredient. Pinky promise. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣

DBP (Dibutyl Phtalate) is common in polish and especially those long lasting formulas. Phthalates mimic the estrogen hormone in the body and have been shown to impair fetal development, cause organ damage and early onset menopause. Hard pass.⁣

Fun facts for my mani lovers out there. You CAN get manicures (including gel) with non-toxic brands! Most people are shocked when I tell them that I can get up to 3 weeks of wear out of a mani using non-toxic gel polish . ⁣
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
Pro tip: Don’t be fooled by brands that say things like “infused with”. That’s just fluffy talk for toxic.⁣
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
Pro tip: Ask around to find salons that carry non-toxic brands. And if your salon doesn’t carry it then ask them too. They don’t know it’s important to you unless you tell them. Also non-toxic + clean beauty salons are keeping their teams safer too.
