The past month I’ve been thinking a lot about failure.  My failures in particular.  I’ve never actually openly discussed one of my biggest failures to date but here goes! 

Last week I faced a lifelong fear.  Not only did I face it, but I chased it down, lit it on fire, and sent it out to sea.  I am 41 years old and I’ve spent most of my life scared to be exposed in a swimsuit. 

I can’t imagine that one woman out there believes that navigating through life, motherhood, marriage, careers, and friendship without an instruction manual is easy.  So wouldn’t it be nice if we could count on our fellow lady population to help each other along the way?!

My dream was to move to New York, work for a year, save money, and then apply to the Fashion Institute of Technology to pursue fashion design.  Looking back, this was a tall order, but it never felt too big to me.

It was an invitation to a white clothing cocktail event for women that sent me into a final fashion and body meltdown AND enabled me to finally embrace and own my beauty!
